Tour De Fleece (2026) – Day 1
Today is day 1 of the 2026 Tour de Fleece. This year I’m on a team where if you don’t end up spinning every day, that is OK. I mean, it’s really always OK because it’s just for fun – but every year I try – and every year I do not succeed. I am hoping this year will be different. I’m currently spinning a very lovely grey alpaca, and I’m hoping to ply it with some merino. I figure I will spin one bobbin of each, and then on my 3rd bobbin I’ll ply. I’m debating if I want to do a 2ply or a 3ply, but I only have three bobbins – maybe I will order some new ones.
Rainbow Socks (1)
This was knit with Knitpicks Felici fingering, in rainbow. I do need a second one knit still, but for now I’m just wearing it as is. Life is too short for me to bother with matching socks!
Tee Time Tee (1) by Knitatude
I knit this in knit picks upcycle aplaca blend (worsted) – it took me far too long, even in worsted, but I love it. It is also unfortunately the middle of winter, so it will be some time before I’m wearing it, but it will be great for spring.
[Crochet] Christmas Snowballs
A fun project I did one year, was crochet about 10 of these snowballs out of premium parfait yarn. Then I handed them out to family members and we spent the rest of the month whipping them at one another. It was awesome. I highly recommend it. There are tons of free patterns for this item, but here’s the one I used. Have fun!
[Cross Stitch] Happy Halloween – WIP
I’ve had this little cross stitch in progress for over a year now, but I have a feeling that 2025 will be the year I finally complete it. The entire thing is a silhouette done in DMC 310 (black) – with some orange accents. I plan on filling in the white bats with a glow in the dark thread, and I can’t wait to show off the effect. I did have it set up in a q-snap frame, but I had to get closer to the edges than I had room for, so in the meantime I’m stitching it while holding it in my hands.
In other news, I’m hoping the Canada Post strike ends any day now, and I’ve decided to postpone the opening of my shop to February 1st. That will give me some time to get the rest of the product pictures completed, and maybe do another drawing or two. Look for that grand opening in 2025!
[Cross Stitch] Peering Outside
I’m hoping to get a new lamp & magnifier combo this holiday season to help my eyes out when I’m working on detailed pieces, but in the meantime, I’ve managed to squint my way through this little cross stitch. Completed on 14ct aida, it came in a World of Cross Stitching magazine that I got a number of years ago. Remember how magazines used to come with little CD inserts or perfume samples? Well, the cross stitching version of those magazines still comes with those little packages.
The instructions said this was a 5 hour piece (approximate) but I’m pretty sure it took me almost 10 hours to complete it. I (of course) finished the side with the cat, first, then moved on to the other side. It has been a number of years since I did any cross stitch, but I remembered how much I enjoy it, especially when I have a good audio book to listen to. Here’s hoping I get a lot more stitching done in the future.
[Crochet] A Teddy Bear
My daughter asked me to make her a teddy bear, and so of course I obliged. He does come with a little yellow raincoat that I haven’t completed yet, but I will hopefully get back to it next week. I’m not the best at crochet, but it was fun putting him together, and she seems to really enjoy him.

I’m experimenting this year with parfait yarn and making plushies, in crochet. Here’s my very first one that I made back in January – a chicken named Mabel.
