[Life] 21 Days to Make a Habit

I’m constantly trying to find ways to fit more creative endeavors into my daily routine and habit, but there is usually some pushback – time, being a major one. I always WANT to be creative, but time, life, etc, tends to kick me when I’m down. So I decided to start smaller. One thing I am able to do on a steady basis is journal. I set aside time for it every single morning just after I’ve woken up. I thought maybe I could also add a tiny bit of drawing to that timeframe, and do a ‘daily doodle’ type of experiment, where I draw every single day. There’s never a lack of inspiration around, and I could be as creative (or not) as I wanted to be. I could even just bang out a whole bunch of days all at once if I was motivated and then those days when I was not so motivated would at least be covered.

I have a hobonichi weeks for 2026 and I decided to set it up as a media journal. It tracks what books I’ve read, what TV shows (and even episodes) I’m watching, and what movies I’ve seen (barely any). I wanted a place where I could see when a new series was coming out, or any special events that were media related. I decided to add that to the right hand page, and the left hand page has wide empty sections that I’ve decided to dedicate to a ‘daily doodle’. Maybe themed, maybe using specific craft supplies, etc. I’m (at the time of this post) 17 days in, and they say it takes approximately 21 days to turn something into a habit, so I think I’m well on my way. Ideally, I’ll have a full 365 days of daily doodles in 2026. We’ll just have to see.

(speaking of habits, maybe we’ll get some more creative blog posts throughout the year.. right? Right…?)

[Life] Happy New Year!

I hope everyone survived the holidays and are looking forward to the promises that a new year brings! The main goal for this year is to online the shop, which requires me finishing up the product pictures to five more products (hopefully) minimum. I’m hoping to have the shop open February 1st. The selection of items for sale will be limited to prints (for now) and then as I get more comfortable with things I’ll expand to other products. Maybe. I’m hoping this serves as motivation and inspiration to keep creating, even if I don’t sell anything.

In other news, I’m looking for some waterproof ink. The two that I own (pictured above, Waterman and Noodler’s Ink) are NOT waterproof. I’m not sure why everyone keeps telling me Noodler’s Ink is, this one most certainly is not, I wet a little bit of my writing and it smudged all over the place. I own 2 (soon to be 3) fountain pens, and I’d really like to be able to sketch with my pen, but I also want to be able to apply watercolour paint over top. The search continues.

[Life] Canada Post – On Strike

Welp, I was working on opening the shop in late November, before the holiday season started – but Canada Post had other ideas. They’ve gone on strike, looking for the typical things that any striking company wants (better wages, pension, work safety, etc). I am all for the peoples right to strike, sometimes it’s the only way to get noticed and have things moving forward – but – this type of strike really does a painful number to small businesses and people who rely on the postal system. Especially close to the holidays. To put it bluntly, it sucks.

With that being said, I’ve decided to set a new tentative launch date for sometime in the new year, after the holidays. Maybe mid-January. Hopefully by then the postal strike will have cleared up and things will be moving through the mail again. I can always re-assess at a later date if I need to. My apologies for anyone who has been waiting for the shop to open, you’ll just have to wait a little bit longer.
